My "65 days of giving project" took place on the 65 days leading up to my 65th birthday. I am so blessed for all I have, all I have experienced, all the places I have traveled, and all the extraordinary people I have, and have had, in my life.
Each day gave with time, a physical item or with dollars. This project is a small way I can share my gratitude for all the blessings that I have in my life. You can see the places I’ve supported on my instagram wmphillips_
Throughout this journey I have been challenging myself to find new places that need me. I have been given many suggestions from friends on their passion projects. Here are a few incredible days of Giving.
Day 10 I served lunch at Someone Cares in Costa Mesa. They offer a hot lunch to anyone who needs. They serve kindness and dignity to all who enter. The volunteers are incredible. Folks have an opportunity to shop donated food from Trader Joes on the way out.
Day 20, I bought dinner for the Aliso Viejo Fire station. It was as easy as calling Dispatch and them calling me back. The fire fighter I spoke to recommended a favorite restaurant ( no home cookies food). The guys where so grateful for the treat.
Day 43, I helped clean Huntington Beach with CoastKeepers. Two hours on a beautiful Saturday morning. I recruited a friend and we wandered picking up plastic bottle caps, candy wrappers, and cigarette butts. I know the birds and fish appreciated our work.
Day 33, I donated diapers to the OC Rescue Mission. I was going to shop for it and then bring buy but they have a link on line to what they needed ans It was delivered the same day. It was too easy not to help.
Day 14, I shopped for a new purse and onepurse.org. All the bags are donated from companies or individuals and 100% of the proceeds go to helping women get jobs and provide jobs and
scholarships to empower women reclaiming their lives after domestic abuse and trafficking.
Day 37, I recruited 4 friends to join me on the ‘CHOC Walk in the Park’. We joined thousands of people at 5:30 am, each who each raised $125 for Rady Children's Hospital. We all walked thru Disneyland waving to characters and listening to stories. It was an extraordinary morning.
Day 32, I spent a few hours at Working Wardrobes helping a 1st generation quiet local senior , who is part of the Simon Scholars pick out his first suit, select a professional shirt, tie and shoes for program graduation, college interview and many wonderful chapters ahead.
